Southampton have emerged as a serious contender to sign Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho according to the Liverpool Echo [via L’Equipe].
Per the source, the Saints are keen on signing the 26-year-old defender who has been frozen out at Liverpool after falling out with head coach Jurgen Klopp over the summer pre-season camp in the US.
Sakho has no shortage of suitors with Inter, AC Milan, West Brom and Stoke City all interested.
A source close to Galatasaray also revealed to Turkish-Football that they are targeting a loan move for Sakho.
The Senegal international was closely linked with Galatasaray and Besiktas but a deal was not reached.
Sakho has not played a minute of competitive football this season and is expected to leave over the winter transfer window.
The powerful defender hinted at a move abroad in his latest Instagram post.
The out-of-favour centre back shared a video of him training and interestingly included the flags of France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Australia, China and Belgium.
