Fenerbahce pour cold water on Simon Kjear Chelsea move

Fenerbahce have slammed the door shut on reports linking Simon Kjaer with a January move to the Premier League leaders Chelsea.

A source close to the club has revealed to Turkish-Football.com that the club have absolutely no intention of selling any of their star assets over the January window, unless a mega offer is made.

Fenerbahce went a step further and have released a statement on their official website today underlining that they have not received an offer for Kjaer.

“A number of recent reports have falsely claimed that Chelsea have made an offer for our Danish player Simon Kjaer,” The club statement reads.

“Fenerbahce have not received any offers whatsoever for Kjaer and any claims suggesting a transfer could take place are wrong. Kjaer is a happy and successful member of our team.

“We would like to ask our fans to disregard such lies and manipulative reports that aim to disrupt our team.”

Fenerbahce are in no hurry to sell the Danish international seeing that he has another two-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal with the club.

The Istanbul giants currently sit in forth place in the league with 31 points after 16 games. Chelsea meanwhile suffered their first defeat in 13 games against Tottenham last week and take on reigning Premier League champions Leicester City on Saturday.

Who is Simon Kjaer

Kjaer has previously played in the French Ligue 1 for Lille and in the Serie A for Roma. The 27-year-old has one assist and three goals in 23 apperances for Fenerbahce in all competitions this season.

The powerful defender has scored three goals in 66 international apperances for the Denmark national team.

Kjaer also reportedly turned down a move to Liverpool as he wanted to join a side where he could win silverware, according to the Evening Standard.
