Newcastle transfer news: Cheick Tiote set to complete move to Turkish minnows
Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote is set to complete a move to the Turkish Super League club Kayserispor, a source close to the club told Turkish-Football.com.
The Senegal international has struck a deal with Super Lig outfit and is expected to touch down in Turkey by the end of the week to undergo a medical.
Per-the-source, Tiote is keen on a move away from Tyneside and has also been in talks with clubs from China and the Middle East.
Both Galatasaray and Bursaspor expressed an interest in the combative midfielder over recent seasons.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez recently confirmed that there has been a lot of interest in the Senegal midfielder but there are reports that he may have put the transfer on hold following injuries to Isaac Hayden and Vurnon Anita.
In other Newcastle transfer news, England international winger Andros Townsend has been linked with a return to the Magpies, according to the Sun.
Who are Kayserispor
Kayserispor are also known as the Anatolian Stars and are based in central Turkey. They share the 32,864 seater Kadir Has stadium with city rivals Erciyesspor who are currently playing in the second-tier.
Former Turkey international Sergen Yalcin manages Kayserispor, who sit in 16th place with just 12 points after 17 games. The Anatolian stars face an up-hill struggle seeing that they are four points off escaping the relegation zone.
Kayserispor have won just three times this season and have conceded the second most goals in the league (34).
