Tottenham transfer news: Bruma contract talks break down with Galatasaray
Galatasaray have decided to postpone negotiations over extending Bruma’s contract. The Lions will enter talks over a new deal in the summer a source close to the club told Turkish-Football.com.
Bruma’s representatives were pursuing a new deal that would have seen the Portuguese winger’s wages double.
The 22-year-old would have seen his salary rise from €1.1 million to €2.5 million. Galatasaray were keen on a new deal as they wanted to include a release clause that matched their valuation which is currently over €20 million.
The Istanbul giants decided to reconsider offering their star man more that double his current salary until the end of the season.
The Istanbul giants want Bruma to complete his first full season at the club playing first team football before making a decision regarding a wage increase.
Galatasaray are currently under investigation from FFP and have already been suspended from European competition for a season for breaching the UEFA’s rules on finances.
The Lions must stay within budget and want to decrease the wage bill going into the summer transfer window.
Bruma has been closely linked with a move to Tottenham. The Premier League outfit have been scouting the young winger this season and have expressed an interest.
Galatasaray have made it clear that they want to keep Bruma at the club until the summer but that they will consider a move for the right price when the time comes.
The former Sporting Lisbon winger has made it clear that he does want to play Premier League football in the future but he also underlined that he will stay at Galatasaray until at least the end of the season.
Galatasaray are currently in the title race and are third in the Turkish league, five points behind league leaders – and reigning champions – Besiktas.
Bruma has been arguably Galatasaray’s player of the season and has five goals as well as five assists in the league.
