Chelsea transfer news: Hakan Calhanoglu – “God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season”
Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is on the verge of making an end of season move to Premier League leaders Chelsea a source close to the player told Turkish-Football.
The deal is close to completion and the 22-year-old is likely to be a Chelsea player next season.

We recently broke the news that Chelsea had made Leverkusen an offer for Calhanoglu.
Calhanoglu also dropped a massive hint that he will be joining Chelsea next season during an interview with the daily Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
“God willing, I will be a Chelsea player next season,” Calhanoglu told the Fanatik.
The Bayer Leverkusen maestro also revealed that several other clubs are also interested in his services
Calhanoglu said, “There are also a number of other clubs interested in signing me.”
The Turkey international is currently serving a four-month ban from FIFA following a breach of contract.
Calhanoglu’s family originate from Bayburt, a region close to the Trabzon province. The Black Sea-based side claim that Calhanoglu and his father who was and still is representing him took a payment of €100,000 payment each from the club when he was 17 to sign a professional contract.
The Turkish international playmaker and his father deny the claims but the row rumbled on for years before the FIFA decision was announced last week to issue the suspension.
Calhanoglu will now miss the remainder of the season for Bayer Leverkusen.
The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for Leverkusen this term with seven assists and seven goals in 21 apperances.
Should Calhangolu make the move to Chelsea he will join a growing trend of Germany born Turks moving to the Premier League. A list including Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan and West Ham’s on-loan winger Gokhan Tore.
Calhanoglu is renowned for his set-piece taking ability and long range shots. The Bayer attacking midfielder has found the back of the net 17 times from outside the area since the 2012-13 season.
