(Video) Man City wonder-kid sparks diving controversy in the Netherlands
Manchester City wonder-kid Enes Unal has been lighting up the Eredivisie with his goals for FC Twente who he joined on loan over the summer.
FC Twente beat Heerenveen 1-0 over the weekend and Unal won the penalty that resulted in the winning goal, however, the incident sparked controversy following accusations of diving.
The video shows Unal making a brilliant run, beating his defender, taking the ball around Heerenveen keeper Erwin Mulder in a composed manner before tumbling to the ground. The keeper did not appear to make contact but the penalty was awarded anyway.
After the game Unal spoke live on Fox Sports: “After seeing the replays I understood that the keeper did not make contact. At the time I thought he did and if I had known this I would have told the referee not to award the penalty. If I made a mistake I want to apologise, it all happened in a split second and I genuinely thought he made contact.”
