Arsenal failed to support Mesut Ozil, says Germany legend
The legendary German striker Oliver Bierhoff has stated that Mesut Ozil has been let down by his Arsenal teammates.
The former Bayern Munich man revealed that he has sympathy for Ozil, who received criticism from fans and pundits following Arsenal’s defeat at the Allianz Arena.
Arsenal are on the verge of a UEFA Champions League exit after they suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern.
Arsene Wenger’s side will need to win the second leg by four goals if they are to stand a chance of qualification.
“If I look at Mesut Ozil, who was singled out following the 5-1 loss to Bayern,” Bierhoff was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“In that match there wasn’t much support for a player like Mesut, who lives on his footballing qualities.
“The team let him down a bit.”

Ozil has failed to find the back of the net for Arsenal in his last ten games for the north London based club.
The 28-year-old playmaker has provided eight assists and scored nine goals in 29 apperances for Arsenal so far this season.
Ozil is a long way off matching his assist tally of 19 in the Premier League last season. Arsenal take on Liverpool this weekend at Anfield.
