Ozil has returned to training but he faces a race against time to make a complete record ahead of the World Cup qualification clash against Azerbaijan.
The 28-year-old would be one of the German national team players – the other being Emre Can – capable of understanding the opposition players.
Ozil and Can are fluent in Turkish, the national language of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani or Azerbaijani Turkish – which is mutually intelligible with the Turkish of Turkey.
