Liverpool captain reveals what Emre Can helped to achieve against Everton
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson praised Emre Can for his display against Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Henderson revealed that he thought Can, Lucas Leiva and Gini Wijnaldum did a great job controlling the midfield.
“After 10 years here, he of course knows what the derby is all about – and let me tell you, he loves them – and he used that experience and knowledge right from the first minute to help control the midfield along with Emre and Gini,” Henderson was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo.
Henderson was out injured against Everton, the Reds captain has not featured in the last five league games.
Can was pushed into a more advanced role following injury to Adam Lallana and Lucas was drafted in where the Germany international of Turkish origin usually plays.
Liverpool ended up winning the derby clash 3-1 at Anfield.
Can put on another impressive performance, pulling off the box-to-box duties that were demanded of him.
The 23-year-old is expected to start for Liverpool in the Premier League tonight against Bournemouth despite an injury scare.
Can was awarded the Liverpool goal of the month award today for his winning strike against Burnley in March.
