£30m defender wants to return to Liverpool, Turkish league giants also keen on transfer

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho wants to return to his parent club at the end of the season.

Sakho is currently on loan at Crystal Palace where he has been in impressive form.

The France international was quoted by ESPN as saying: “I still have three years on my Liverpool contract. If I have to wear the Liverpool shirt again, I’ll do so with pleasure. If I have to wear another shirt … we’ll see.”

A return is unlikely considering who Sakho left the club.

The powerful defender fell out with Klopp over the summer pre-season period and has been transfer listed according to the Echo.

Per the source, the Reds are demanding £30 million for the experienced centre-back.

A source close to Besiktas told Turkish-Football that the club have been scouting Sakho with the intention to loan the defender.

Besiktas would currently be unable to match Liverpool’s asking price but considering Sakho does not want to leave the club another loan deal could end up being an option.

The Black Eagles are the reigning Turkish league champions and favourites to defend the title this season.

Besiktas would as things stand be able to offer Sakho Champions League football if he were to join.
