Liverpool news: Klopp to refuses to issue ultimatum for star midfielder
Germany international Emre Can’s future at Liverpool has been cast in doubt in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old has just 14 months remaining on his contract with the Reds and is yet to begin negotiations on a new deal.
According to the Telegraph, Liverpool will keep Can at the club until the end of his contract, regardless of whether he signs a new deal this summer.
The report states that manager Jurgen Klopp will not issue Can an ultimatum if he doesn’t put pen-to-paper on a new deal at the end of the season.
Per the source, this is in stark contrast to Everton boss Ronald Koeman who has issued an ultimatum to Ross Barkley to sign a new deal or be sold.
The Telegraph goes onto say that Klopp does not want to replace Can over the summer transfer window. Furthermore, the German tactician is happy with Can’s attitude and willingness to play through injuries.
Can is understood to be holding out for a mega £100,000 per week deal. The 23-year-old has three assists and four goals in 35 apperances for Liverpool this season.
