‘Arsenal will put a spanner in the works’ – Lawrenson tips Gunners to spoil Tottenham’s party
Arsenal take on their rival Tottenham in the north London Derby today.
Spurs host the Gunners at White Hart Lane and kick-off is scheduled for 16:30 (GMT).
Tottenham come into the game in impressive form. Spurs have won their last eight games in the Premier League and are unbeaten at home this season.
Arsenal meanwhile have won back-to-back games. However, Arsene Wenger’s side have lost four of their last five games away from home.
Lawrenson believes the Gunners can put the brakes on Tottenham’s title bid. The former Liverpool star has predicted a 1-1 draw.
“Tottenham found a way to beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday night despite not playing particularly well, and that was a great result for them,” Lawrenson told the BBC.
“Spurs have now won eight league games on the spin but I just have a feeling that Arsenal will put a spanner in the works of their bid to catch Chelsea.
“The Gunners’ winning run in all competitions is much shorter, at three matches, but it included Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.
“Arsene Wenger’s side will be full of confidence and have got a bit of momentum too. This is a game that I don’t see them losing.”
Wenger is facing defensive problems going into today’s game. Germany international Shkodran Mustafi is sidelined with an injury while Laurent Koscielny is a doubt.
Mesut Ozil is available for today’s clash with Spurs. The 28-year-old has 11 goals and 11 assists this season.
