Turkish League Previews 30: Are Fenerbahce still in the title race? Besiktas will have the answer
Besiktas looked to have had the league title wrapped up a few weeks back.
It really did look game, set and match but Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce have the chance to blow the race wide open with four games to go until the end of the campaign.
With Basaksehir winning and Galatasaray losing over the weekend, several permutations have opened up.
Basaksehir are currently one point behind Besiktas and will be praying for the Black Eagles to drop points.
Fenerbahce meanwhile are seven points behind Basaksehir and eight behind Besiktas.
A victory for the Yellow Canaries would move them within four points of second placed Basaksehir and five behind leaders Besiktas.
The Black Eagles suffered a shock 3-1 defeat against once-upon-a-time Istanbul minnows Basaksehir last week.
Fenerbahce meanwhile are on a four game win streak which has gone largely under the radar because of the manner of the victories.
The Yellow Canaries have been grinding out wins and now find themselves with an outside chance of pulling off a miracle.
The Canaries still have a lot of ground to make up but Besiktas have a history of botching things up at the last hurdle.
Besiktas do have the advantage of being at home and despite last weeks hiccup they have actually been in great form.
The Black Eagles do have a few problems. Dusko Tosic is out suspended, now the Serbian international is not the most reliable defender but the home side have enough defensive problems as it is.
Besiktas do have a great scoring record this season, no other team has scored more goals in the league. There is however, one glaring problem. Besiktas have failed to score in five of their last six head to head games with Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce may look favourites on paper but their recent form is not as impressive as it looks. Besiktas will be no pushovers, especially in front of the home faithful.
Prediction: Besiktas Draw No Bet
