Atletico Madrid have signed a youth development agreement with Süper Lig outfit Başakseşhir.
Atleti CEO, Peter Kenyon and Başakşehir president Göksel Gümüşdağ were present at the meeting.
“Atletico Madrid have one of the most prestigious youth systems in world football. Their academy is 100 years old and it is an honour to start a partnership together,” Gümüşdağ was quoted as saying by Eurosport TR.
“Hopefully this marriage between the two clubs will result in players of an Atletico Madrid caliber being produced here in Turkey.

“There will be a signing ceremony towards the end of March or early April to finalise the deal.”
The new project will involve 10 local players training in Madrid for 1-2 year periods where they will also receive an education.
An academy will also be setup in partnership with Atleti in Istanbul aimed at developing young players.
The La Liga champions plan to open academies in four countries – Turkey, the US, China and India.
Başakşehir are currently 5th in the Süper Lig on 32 points after 19 games.
The Istanbul minnows are one of the smallest clubs in the city in terms of supporters as they were only founded in 1990 and later rebranded in 2014.
