Arsenal legend Martin Keown not bothered if Mesut Ozil goes but ‘desperate’ for Alexis Sanchez to stay
Arsenal legend Martin Keown has revealed that he is desperate for Alexis Sanchez to stay at Arsenal.
Both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s contracts with Arsenal expire in a little over 12 months. Neither player is close to signing an extension however talks are planned over the summer.
The Gunners may be forced into offloading the duo if they are unable to tie them down to longer term contracts.
However, Keown is willing to let Ozil go but wants Arsenal to do everything in their power to keep Sanchez.
“Sanchez was magnificent again last night. He was at the weekend,” Keown told TalkSport.
“Is he playing for a move?
“If you look at those two, Ozil and Sanchez, I would definitely be desperate to keep Sanchez. Maybe not so Ozil.”
Ozil has been heavily criticised by pundits and fans this season. The Germany international has had a muted season by his standards. Ozil has 11 goals and 12 assists to his name after 40 appearances.
