Watch: ‘One of the finest footballing goals of the season’ – Ray Wilkins waxes lyrical about Arsenal goal
Arsenal beat Stoke City 4-1 to close the gap with fourth place Liverpool to just one point.
Germany international of Turkish origin Mesut Ozil got his name on the scoresheet taking his season tally to 12 goals.
Ozil wrapped up a fine attacking move and splendid defence splitting pass from Alexis Sanchez.
The 28-year-old’s goal was described as being one of the finest goals of the season by Sky Sports football pundit Ray Wilkins.
“Arguably the finest pass of the season,” he said on Sky Sports.
“Ozil plays it inside, Sanchez is coming off the centre-halves.
“He picked it up and just waited for Ozil to make it those extra couple of yards.
“He threaded it through and took out four players with one pass. Absolutely exquisite.
“The finish from Ozil was equally as good.
“It was probably one of the finest footballing goals of the season.”
