“Three days ago we lost against Galatasaray but put on a great performance, today what happened was like a nightmare,” Skibbe told Sporx after the game.
Gençlerbirliği will join Galatasaray, Kayserispor, Manisaspor, Bursaspor, Mersin İdman Yurdu, Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor in the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.
EsEs were last seasons Turkish Cup finalists but have had a turbulent year and recently parted ways with manager Ertuğrul Sağlam.
Eskişehirspor are currently in 15th place in the league with 17 points after 19 games this season.
EsEs have only secured a single point from their last four Süper Lig games.
Skibbe has only been in charge of EsEs for a month but the team are yet to show an improvement.
EsEs take on Gençlerbirliği again in the league on Monday. Skibbe’s side could find themselves in the drop zone with another loss against the Ankara based side.
