‘We want £17.5m’ – Euro giants set price for Arsenal target

Besiktas star Oguzhan Ozyakup has just over 12 months remaining on his contract and has hinted that he could be headed for a summer exit.

Black Eagles press officer Metin Albayrak has revealed that the club want £17.5 million [€20m] for the Turkish international midfielder.

Albayrak stated that they would not be able to refuse an offer which matches their valuation.

“Say we received a €20m offer, something only a major club would be willing to bid, well then we could accept it,” Albayrak was quoted as saying by Turkish-Footblal.

“Oguzhan is young but very experienced, we would consider an offer from the right club as we do want to open his path.”

Besiktas have stressed that money is not their only consideration in selling Ozyakup.

Club president Fikret Orman made it explicitly clear that he would only sell the Turkish international to a major European club.

Oman angered Leicester City fans after underlining that he would not let the 24-year-old join a club like the Foxes.

“We will sell players if we receive the right offers,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“We have not received the right offer yet for Oguzhan and as I have said before he will only join a club of the highest level club.

“I would not for example sell him to Leicester City.

“I want him to play at the highest level.”

Arsenal are keen on bringing Ozyakup back to the club according to Goal.

The midfielder left Arsenal in 2012 for Besiktas, going onto win back to back league titles.

The Besiktas star recently dropped a massive hint that he is keen on returning to the Gunners.

The 24-year-old described the Arsenal academy as being the best in the world and that it was an honour developing at the club.

“I have plans to play in Europe,” Ozyakup told beIN Sport Turkey.

“I was born in Holland and developed in England at the best academy in the world.

“I trained with the best and want to relive my time at Arsenal again.

“I want to be an ambassador for Turkish football in Europe like Arda Turan.”
