Revealed: Portuguese giants have first-option on £13m Man United target, Red Bull Leipzig closing in on transfer deal
Galatasaray look almost certain to sell star winger Bruma over the summer transfer window.
Bruma has just over 12 months remaining on his contract but sources close to the club have revealed to Turkish-Football that he is reluctant to sign an extension.
Red Bull Leipzig are currently favourites to sign the 23-year-old but Manchester United have also been closely linked over the course of the season.
United have been monitoring Bruma and did Eastern European regional scout at a recent Galatasaray game against Gaziantepspor keeping tabs.
Galatasaray want at least £13 million [€15m] for the Portuguese under-21 international.
Leipzig are reported to be willing to match the Lions valuation but there has been no official confirmation yet from the Istanbul giants.
Details emerging from Bruma’s account have however, complicated matters.
Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon have first-option on any transfer fee agreed which means they could hijack the deal and sign him for the same price being offered.
Additionally if Galatasaray were to sell Bruma to Sporting’s rivals, Benfica, Porto or Braga they will be forced to pay £26.2 million [€30m] in compensation.
Bruma had the best season of his career, scoring 11 times and providing eight assists for the Lions this season.
United have been keeping tabs on Bruma throughout the season after the star winger impressed Jose Mourinho during a pre-season friendly.
“Mourinho told me he was impressed with my performance and that if I continue I will get back into the Portugal national team.” Bruma told O Jogo.
“Of course it was amazing to hear this from Mourinho and he said he will keep an eye on how I do this season.”
