Liverpool midfielder will cost up to £5m, Turkish giants using Arda Turan’s agent to broker deal but face competition from Brazil
Liverpool veteran Lucas Leiva has been closely linked with a summer exit.
Reports in Brazil suggested that Lucas could be available for free however, the Liverpool Echo claim that the midfielder will cost up to £5 million.
Per the source, the Reds are unlikely to allow the 30-year-old to leave for free.
Lucas does have another year remaining on his contract and is the longest serving member of the Liverpool squad.
The Brazilian midfielder joined the Reds from Gremio in 2007 and his former side want him back according to club vice-director of Gremio Odorico Román.

The Echo reported Roman as saying: “Lucas is a great player, it would be an impact signing. If there is a possibility in the financial conditions of Gremio, and that also serves Lucas’ interest, it is possible that he may come.
“At this time, there is no negotiation. I talked to him a few days ago. At any moment we can make contact. He is also seeing the interest of other clubs. There is, yes, possibility of him coming. There is currently nothing in progress.”
Gremio will face competition from Trabzonspor for his signature.
The Turkish giants have recruited Arda Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut to broker the deal on their behalf according to Fotomac.
Trabzonspor are reported to have entered their second round of talks with Lucas.
Without question, Lucas ‘anything-but-samba’ Leiva is the world’s slowest DM, if not the slowest footballer that ever played the game.
