Watch: Arsenal star Mesut Ozil sparks transfer speculation after being spotted on speedboat

Mesut Ozil has had a busy summer travelling to Los Angeles, Ibiza and now Turkey.

The Arsenal star was spotted on a speedboat today alongside Turkish television mogul Acun Ilicali – who has close ties with Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim.

The playmaker of Turkish origin shared the video on his Instagram account.

The short clip sparked a social media storm as Fenerbahce fans and journalists claimed that Acun is working on convincing Ozil to make the move to Turkey.

Fenerbahce have been closely linked with the 28-year-old recently.

The Telegraph reported last month that the Istanbul giants are actually the only club interested in signing Ozil.

In fact Ozil has himself admitted that he grew up supporting the Yellow Canaries.

“Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahçe fan,” Ozil told the Turkish outlet Sabah.

The playmaker has also been under pressure form his family to consider a move to Turkey.

“Many people ask me that question [about Fenerbahce], my family, my friends,” the World Cup winner was quoted as saying by Fanatik.

“When they hear something like that they keep telling me: “Join that club” or “Go there!” But at the moment I have a contract at Arsenal and I do not think about Turkey or other leagues.

“You can never know what is going to happen in the future. I feel very, very comfortable here.

“We’ll see about the rest.”
