‘I had offers from England’ – Liverpool legend urged Reds to sign Pepe but he ended up signing €4.75m per-season deal with Besiktas
Besiktas completed the transfer of Real Madrid legend Pepe on a two-year deal today.
The Portuguese international was unveiled in a signing ceremony at the Vodafone Arena, Istanbul.
The 34-year-old will earn €4.75 million per-season and has a €4000 per-point bonus for league games – in matches he plays.
The Istanbul giants surprised many in the footballing world in completing the transfer.

Pepe revealed that he had offers from from England, France and Italy.
“I had offers from England, France and Italy but I chose Besiktas,” he said.
Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann had urged the Reds to sign Pepe after Real Madrid released him.

Pepe won 13 trophies across 10 seasons at Real Madrid including the La Liga title and Champions League.
The experienced defender did not reveal which English clubs made him an offer but he was close to joining French giants PSG prior to signing for Besiktas.
The Hurriyet Daily News meanwhile claim – via Spanish sources – that Pepe turned down an offer from Manchester City which would have seen him work under the stewardship of former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola.
