The midfielder of Turkish origin has been sidelined since December with a knee injury.

City revealed on their official website that Gundogan is ready for competitive action after returning to team training.

The 26-year-old has returned to training but has yet to feature in a competitive friendly.

Gundogan wrapped up last season with five goals and two assists in 16 games for City in all appearances.

Guardiola will however, be without Claudio Bravo who is sidelined with a calf injury.

United are without Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young. Spain international Juan Mata is a doubt due to an ankle knock.

The last Manchester derby was played in the Etihad back in April and ended in a goalless draw.
