“To be honest, the number is too high,” Wenger was quoted as saying by Goal.
“We will let some players go. Too much competition for places is detrimental, but not enough competition for places is detrimental as well.”
Arsenal fans will be hoping the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will not be included among those who leave the Emirates. Both Ozil and Sanchez have under 12 months remaining on their contracts with the Gunners.
Sanchez has been linked with a move to Man City this summer while Barcelona have taken an interest in Mesut Ozil.
Wenger has signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac so far this summer. The experienced manager has also set his sights on Monaco star Thomas Lemar.
Wojciech Szczesny, Yaya Sanogo and Emiliano Martinez have all departed Arsenal this summer. Meanwhile, Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck have also been linked with moves away from the club.
Arsenal kick-off their 2017-18 Premier League season with a home clash against Leicester City on Friday evening.
