Arsenal team news – Wenger admits triple injury blow ahead of Leicester clash

Arsenal could be without several key names when they take on Leicester City on Friday.

The Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign on Friday night at the Emirates, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez will miss this week’s clash.

The French tactician also admitted Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker could all miss out. Meanwhile Koscielny is sidelined for the Leicester City game due to a suspension.

“We have plenty of uncertainties from players that didn’t play against Chelsea,” Wenger was quoted as saying by the Metro.

“Ramsey, Ozil, Mertesacker, Koscielny is suspended.

“We have players coming back who have not played like Mustafi and Sanchez but Sanchez will not be available.

“I can take gambles on one or two but I must focus more on players who had the right numbers of minutes in recent weeks.”

Both Ozil and Sanchez have under 12-months left on his contract with Arsenal. The duo missed Sunday’s Community Shield victory over Chelsea.

Sanchez is yet to feature for Arsenal following his role in their FA Cup win over Chelsea last season. The Chile international was granted an extended summer break and his return was further delayed following an illness.

Arsenal suffered a defeat at the hands of Liverpool in last season’s Premier League opener and will be hoping for a better result this year.
