Man United transfer news: Red Devils receive transfer boost as Barcelona boss leaves door open for £24m target to leave

Newly appointed Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has left the door open for Arda Turan to leave the club this summer.

The Spanish tactician has stated that he dropped Turan from the squad due to the Turkey international’s recent form.

Valverde’s latest statement’s have intensified speculation linking the Turkey international with a move away from Barcelona this summer.

“I am not sure, this is due to Arda’s performances in recent weeks. The club have made a significant investment in him,” Valverde was quoted as saying by NTVSpor, when asked whether Turan will return to the Barcelona squad.

“A decision will be made regarding his [Turan’s] future. But I have decided to leave him out of the squad in favour of other players.”

The former Ateltico Madrid star was left out of the Barcelona squad which faced Real Madrid on Sunday. The Catalan giants signed Turan for £24 million back in 2015 (BBC).

Turan has been linked with a move to Manchester United by the Spanish outlet AS. The report states that United boss Jose Mourinho has held talks with the Turan ‘on many occasions.

The Turkey international scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 30 appearances for Barcelona last term.
