Liverpool transfer news: Reds ‘could’ make late move for star German playmaker, Chelsea also interested
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Hoffenheim playmaker Kerem Demirbay.
The young playmaker was spotted talking with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following the Reds 4-2 win over Die Kraichgauer last week. Demirbay previously played for Borussia Dortmund youth sides while Jurgen Klopp was in charge.
According to Bundesliga expert Lee Price, Liverpool are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old midfielder and could make a late move for him.

“The young midfielder impressed for Hoffenheim against Liverpool in the Champions League qualifier, and was seen chatting to Klopp at the end of the game,” Price told the Express.
“Spurs are thought to be leading the chase, as Liverpool have been concluding a deal for Naby Keita, while Chelsea have prioritised Danny Drinkwater of Leicester.
“But his links to Klopp, having spent two years at Dortmund as a youth, means Liverpool is an option.
“There’s a long way to go before any deal is done but there’s a genuine chance he could sign in the next couple of days to bolster the Reds’ midfield choices.
“Bournemouth could offer first team football, invaluable in a World Cup year for a player on the fringes of the German national team, but who was a part of the successful Confederations Cup squad.
“Don’t be surprised if he’s a late mover.”
Price went onto state that Tottenham, Chelsea and Bournemouth are all interested in Demirbay too.
Demirbay – like Emre Can – opted to play for Germany national team instead of Turkey.
The young playmaker had spells at Hamburg, Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Dusseldorf before making the move to Hoffenheim last summer. Demirbay put in a stand-out performance during Hoffenheim’s UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool.

Demirbay provided 10 assists and scored six goals in 29 appearances for Hoffenheim last season.
Probably not given they have just blown £40m on an Arsenal squad player! How Oxlade Chamberlain will improve Liverpool’s midfield is a mystery to me, let’s hope Klopp can do something with him.
