West Brom miss out on Brazil international after refusing to match €2.2m per-season demands

West From missed out on signing Brazil international Josef De Souza after refusing to match his €2.2 per-season salary demands according to reports in Turkey.

Fanatik report that the Baggies struck an €11 million deal with Fenerbahce to sign the midfielder.

Per the source, West Brom failed to agree personal terms after making a €1.4 million offer.

Souza is currently paid €2.2 million per season at Fenerbahce and wanted his current salary matched or increased in order to complete the move.

The central midfielder will remain on Fenerbahce after the West Brom deal fell through.

The Yellow Canaries were hoping to sell Souza and reinvest the transfer funds in a replacement.

The Istanbul giants have had their hands tied after being investigated by Financial Fair Play and will struggle to make additional signings despite the Turkish transfer window remaining open for another seven days.

Souza has three caps for Brazil and has another two-years remaining on his current contract.

The 28-year-old joined Fenerbahce on a £7.2 million move from Sao Paolo in 2015 and has made 99 appearances.
