“They had their weak games” – Wenger strikes back at ex-Arsenal legends after Ozil criticism
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defender his star playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The Germany international has come under fire in recent weeks following the Gunners defeats to Stoke City and Liverpool.
Ozil was singled out by most pundits despite the 28-year-old creating numerous chances in each game.
The former Real Madrid star went onto impress while on international duty with Germany. Ozil provided two assists and scored a goal over the last seven days.
Ozil used social media earlier this week to hit back at ex-Arsenal players and called upon them to support the club rather than criticise.
Wenger meanwhile has defended Ozil by stating that former Arsenal “legends” also had their weaknesses and poor games.

“I always have problems understanding what a legend is and what a legend isn’t,” Wenger stated at a pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.
“I’ve had all the players here but they all had their weaknesses. Don’t worry about that. They had their weak games and their weak behaviours as well. Nobody was perfect.
“We have to take a distance with that, focus on our performance and not be dragged into any animosity. We are all grateful for what they have done for the club, but what matters is always the players on the pitch who can defend the pride of the club.”
