Super Lig outfit enter talks with Aston Villa defender after making offer in hope of transfer deadline deal
Goztepe have made an offer for Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick.
A source close to the Super Lig club revealed to Turkish-Football that talks have been held with the centre-back.
Negotiations are ongoing however, Goztepe are running out of time as the transfer window shuts on Friday 8 September.
As things stand a transfer looks likely but we will keep you updated with any developments.
Elphick has yet to make a single Champions appearance and has played just one League Cup game this season but does have another two-years remaining on his contract.
The 30-year-old has made a total of 27 appearances for Villa in all competitions.
Villa have already seen one player join the Super Lig this summer. Aly Cissokho joined newly promoted Yeni Malatyaspor.
Goztepe were also promoted this season but have powerful backers.
Founded in 1925, the newly promoted clubs are one of the oldest and most well supported clubs in Turkey.
The Izmir based outfit are owned by Turkish oil tycoon Mehmet Sepil.
Goztepe are in 9th place after three games after beating league giants Trabzonspor and holding Fenerbahce to a draw.
