‘Really struggled’ – Carragher slams Liverpool midfielder after Man City defeat
Liverpool suffered a shock 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday.
Midfielder of Turkish origin Emre Can started for the Reds but was deployed in defence after Mane was sent off.
Can is no stranger to playing in the back four – or three – and spent most of his early days at Liverpool as a centre-back or full-back.

The midfielder has also played in defence for the German national side.
The 23-year-old returned to defence against City, replacing Lovren in the middle of the back three.
Football pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was not impressed with Can’s display.
Carragher thought Can struggled in the middle of the back three.
“Emre Can really struggled when he played in the middle of the back three and didn’t look solid at all,” Carragher said speaking on Sky Sports after the game.
Can was playing as a makeshift defender so it would be harsh to pin too much blame on him.
The powerful midfielder had been in impressive form until the City defeat scoring two goals and providing one assist in all competitions this season.
Hello ,for me Carra’s judgement is totally right. Emre Can was inexistent on the pitch .No good passes .He flew ball quickly away and do’nt give support for the back four.It was a nightmare.
Yes, he was diabolical and there is no excuse. He can,t get his own way so maybe he will do a Raheem sterling. Players in this position seem to forget they are being paid.
