Turks Abroad: Arsenal star returns to form, Enes Unal scores first goal since leaving Man City
Caglar Soyuncu – Freiburg
The boy wonder was at his best again keeping Borussia Dortmund at bay. The defenders equivalent of scoring a goal is keeping a clean sheet and that is exactly what Soyuncu contributed towards. The 20-year-old made two tackles and the most interceptions for his side (3). The Turkish international also dealt well with aerial balls and made six clearances.
Enes Unal – Villarreal
The Turkish international striker replaced Carlos Bacca on 69 minutes and scored his first La Liga goal in Villarreal’s first win this season. Alvaro Gonzalez sent Unal a defence splitting pass, playing the 20-year-old in on a one-on-one position with the Real Betis keeper, Adan. The former Manchester City forward finished in style, smashing the ball into the back of the net.

Mesut Ozil – Arsenal
The misunderstood playmaker came under fire heading into the Bournemouth clash. Ozil did not score or provide an assist but he was in impressive form as the Gunners marched to a 3-0 victory. On another day the playmaker of Turkish origin would have had an assist as he created three goal scoring opportunities – more than any other player on his team.
Emre Can – Liverpool
Can started confidently in the midfield but it all fell to pieces after Sadio Mane was sent off. The midfielder of Turkish origin was moved into the middle of a three-back and lets just say things didn’t quite go to plan. The Reds were smashed 5-0 by Manchester City in a game Can and his teammates will be hoping to forget.
Hakan Calhanoglu – AC Milan
There were a few surprised faces when AC Milan announced their starting XI as Calhanoglu was not named. Considering the Italian giants ended up losing 4-1 to Lazio he will probably be pleased not to got the nod. Calhanoglu did come on in the second half and setup Montolivio with his sides one and only goal.

Nuri Sahin – Borussia Dortmund
Another stellar performance from Nuri Sahin who controlled the game from the centre of midfield, in fact he had a whopping 133 touches on the ball. On another day the Turkish international would have had an assist or two to his name as he create five goal scoring chances. The 29-year-old pulled off an astonishing 113 passes with an 87.6 percent accuracy. Sahin is currently rated the third best player in the Bundesliga according to Whoscored.
Levent Oztunali – Mainz
Oztunali was in splendid form for Mainz, providing two assists in the 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old would have also got his name on the scoresheet had he not been prevented by the post. The rising star is well worth keeping a close eye on.
Kerem Demirbay – Hoffenheim
Kerem starred in the upset of the week as his side beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at home. The 24-year-old worked hard defensively and closed down the opposition but with a 71 percent pass accuracy he could do with improving his distribution.
