Liverpool team news: Klopp receives huge boost ahead of Sevilla clash

Liverpool take on Sevilla in their Champions League opener at Anfield on Wednesday 13 September.

The Reds received a huge boost after Jurgen Klopp revealed that Mohamed Salah is likley to play against Sevilla despite being sent home from training last night because of ilness.

Klopp feels Salah will be ready for training ahead of the game.

Klopp told the official website: “Most of them are looking really good apart from Clyney and Adam.

“Mo, we sent him home tonight, that’s right. He was in; Mo said he can train, the doc said he could train. But then I asked the doc what would be best for him and he said [it would be] if he doesn’t have to train because he has a little bit of a sore throat.

“It should not be that serious, so we sent him home so he cannot spread the virus, if it is a virus.

“In this moment we expect him back tomorrow morning for normal training.”

Klopp will be able to select a front-three involving Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino if the Egyptian international is fit.

Philippe Coutinho will also be available to start in a three-man midfield – if the head coach decides to use him.

If Klopp decides to use Coutinho in midfield it could force either Emre Can or Gini Wijnaldum to drop out.

The midfielder of Turkish origin is likely to start in midfield as he has done in every game so far this season.

Sevilla have never won in five visits to England, the Reds meanwhile have not won a Champions League group stage game since September 2014.
