‘Elephant in the room. Team much better without Ozil’ – Arsenal fans react to team display against Chelsea without star playmaker
Arsenal held Premier League champions Chelsea to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge today.
The Gunners put on an impressive display despite the fact that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez did not start.
Ozil was ruled out with a knee injury while Sanchez started the game on the bench.
We took a look at how Arsenal fans reacted on social media to the team performance against Chelsea without Ozil.

Arsenal actually coped pretty well without Ozil and Sanchez. So well in fact that some fans are beginning to question whether losing the star duo would actually be as big a blow as is being made out.
No Sanchez,No Ozil, No problem. No player is bigger than the club. Good team effort today, need to play like that all the team (esp away).

Anyone miss Ozil?

This is what we’ll start with next season without them. We look better without Ozil. Much harder working team with iwobi in there.

Another take on the matter. Is Ozil more useful against teams that sit back and park the bus?
In an away game.to be a big team, yes. Not against teams at home who defend in numbers. Vital to us to break those teams down.

Not everyone was happy to see Ozil out and it is worth pointing out that he has been in the side before when Arsenal have actually beat Chelsea.
I do. I miss his through balls…

Actually yes not blaming Iwobi but could have created better chances than him

One would think Ozil wasn’t in the XI that outplayed Chelsea at the Ems, at Wembley, and then at Wembley again for banter.

Was Arsene Wenger actually delivering the star duo a message by not starting them against Chelsea?
Strong signal to both Sanchez and Ozil that they need to raise their games. Not a coincidence we were more positionally disciplined today.
