Liverpool & Real Madrid target forced to ask for substitution in Champions League game due to noise from fans

Besiktas fans are notoriously loud, in fact they reached a then-world record 132 decibels in the 2009 Champions League clash against Manchester United.

The Black Eagles beat Red Bull Leipzig 2-0 at the Vodafone Park stadium yesterday with the help of their 12th man.

Timo Werner said the following on Saturday: “We will go to Istanbul without fear, Besiktas is not a Bayern Munich or Dortmund.”

It was not long until he changed his opinion, in fact the star striker lasted just 32 minutes.

Werner began complaining about the noise from the home fans and asked for ear plugs from the bench.

The Germany international was still unable to block out the noise and requested a substitution before the end of the first half.

Werner is reported by CapaMag as saying: “I have never seen such an atmosphere in my life. I could not focus on the match.

“I asked for a headset and it did not help either. I still do not feel well.”

The Bild report that Wernder was suffering from “circulatory problems”, which dizziness can indicate.

Werner has been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid according to the Mirror.

The striker himself was quoted by Bild as saying: “In Spain there are a maximum of three clubs with Barca, Real and Atletico Madrid.

“In England there are a few more: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool , Manchester United and Manchester City

“FC Bayern is also a big club, but for me it is not a topic that I am concerned with.”

Considering he struggled with the noise at the Vodafone Park it makes you wonder whether he would be able to cope with Anfield or the atmosphere at Real Madrid.
