Man City star hints he will be available for the Chelsea clash
Manchester City beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 yesterday in Ukraine to remain top of their Champions League group.
City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan made a surprise return against the Ukrainian giants.
The midfielder of Turkish origin played the last 10 minutes despite being expected to miss the game with injury.
Gundogan made his first start after recovering from 10 months on the sidelines with a knee injury against West Brom in the League Cup last week.
The 26-year-old was unable to complete 90 minutes after being forced off following a tacle made by Claudio Yacob.
Gundogan missed the weekend clash against Crystal Palace as a result and was not expected to feature against Shakhtar.
The midfielder shared a photograph on Instagram after the game and revealed that he was pleased to get some Champions League playing time under his belt.
Gundogan also hinted that he will be ready for the Chelsea game as he said he is looking forward to the match.
The City ace is expected to have made a full recovery and returned to match fitness in time for the game against the reigning Premier League champions.
