Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has been struggling for form this season, failing to score a single goal or provide an assist for his side this season.

Ozil has struggled for playing time recently but Arsene Wenger has put that down to injury.

The playmaker of Turkish origin was on the bench for Monday’s 2-0 win over West Brom, having suffered knee inflammation last week.

Germany manager Joachim Low has now dropped Ozil from the squad.

Low does however, put that down to injury as when and underlined that he wants Ozil in top condition by next summer for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“With Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira, I assume that they will be better rested during the international break,” Low said about the reason behind omitting Ozil.

“This is more important to them at the moment. What is crucial to us is that our players are in peak condition next year.”

Despite Ozil being left out of the Germany squad he is available for Wenger ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton on Sunday.

Fellow Arsenal team-mate Shkodran Mustafi has made the squad.

The German national team are top of Group C having won eight games out of a possible eight, scoring 35 times and conceding just twice.

Germany will book a place at the World Cup finals with a point against Northern Ireland in Belfast.
