Turkish League Previews & Predictions 8
The international break is finally over. Turkey crashed out of the World Cup qualifiers after an embarrassing home defeat against Iceland but there was some good news.
The Turkish amputee national side won the European Amputee Championship beating England 2-1 in the final.
Reigning champions Besiktas have dropped points for the last two rounds. Galatasaray face a tricky trip to Konya, while Fenerbahce try to find their feet against Malatyaspor.
Finding bookmakers offering extensive markets on the Super Lig does take a bit of time but we have done the hard work for you. Bet365 are currently offering the most options as far as the Turkish league is concerned. For more information check out the bet365 betting review.
The current record of our picks stand at 20 wins 10 loss.
Genclerbirligi vs Besiktas
Besiktas will be desperate to return to winning ways after picking up just one point in their last two games. It is worth stressing that the Black Eagles played Fenerbahce away and Trabzonspor – two of the toughest match ups in the calendar. Senol Gunes has had a fortnight to sand down some rough edges. The reigning Super Lig champions have been shaky but Genclerbirligi have been downright awful and sit bottom of the table.
Prediction: Besiktas Win
Karabukspor vs Kayserispor
Karabukspor are hurtling towards the bottom of the table having lost their last four league games. Kayserispor meanwhile are doing surprisingly well and currently sit in third place. We are not entirely convinced Kayserispor will be able to keep this out all season but we are going to keep riding the gravy train until the wheels fall off.
Prediction: Kayserispor +0.5 (Asian Handicap)
Antalyaspor vs Goztepe
Goztepe were rather unfortunate to lost 2-1 against Basaksehir before the international break. We have been impressed with the newly promoted side. They have a well organised unit and have posed a threat on the break. Something is not quite right yet with Antalyaspor. We will wait to see what newly appointed Leonardo will bring to the party but for the time being this game is too tough to call.
Basaksehir vs Alanyaspor
Alanyaspor have won back to back games but this is where the run ends. Basaksehir are starting to crank up the gears and are bound to exploit Alanyaspor’s shaky defence.
Prediction: Basaksehir Win
Konyaspor vs Galatasaray
Konyaspor are no pushovers at home. In fact they have one of the greatest home atmospheres in the league. Galatasaray are however, a different beast this season. The Lions have not been blowing everyone out the water but have showed great resilience, always managing to find a way to win. The Lions are the team to stop right now, the best I can see Konyaspor getting from this game is a draw.
Prediction: Galatasaray -0 (Draw No Bet)
Kasimpasa vs Sivasspor
Not even going to go there!
Trabzonspor vs Akhisar
Trabzonspor have been unpredictable this season but the more Ersun Yanal has given his young guns a chance the better their results have been. 18-year-old Abdulkadir Omur and 20-year-old Yusuf Yazici are being touted as Turkish footballs hottest talents. They have been a joy to watch this season and are desperate to prove themselves. Akhisar face a very tough test in Trabzon.
Prediction: Trabzonspor Win
Fenerbahce vs Malatyaspor
It is becoming increasingly difficult to predict Fenerbahce this season. The team has yet to gel, the defence is all over the place but they have been scoring. Under normal circumstances there would only be one winner in this match up. The Yellow Canaries are however, too unpredictable right now to trust with a prediction.
Bursaspor vs Osmanlispor
Just when Bursaspor were building up a decent run they went and lost back to back games. Luckily for the Green Crocodiles they are taking on a woeful looking Osmanlispor side who are hovering around the bottom of the table. Bursa have lost just once at home and that was a narrow defeat against league leaders Galatasaray. Expect the Crocs to give the visitors a nasty bite.
Prediction: Bursaspor Win
