Ian Wright hits out at Martin Keown for Arsenal star ‘dig’

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil did not start in the 2-1 defeat against Stoke City on Saturday 14 October but that did not stop Martin Keown slamming him.

Keown was been criticising Ozil for quite some time now but his latest outburst not only riled up sections of the Arsenal fanbase but also former Gunners striker Ian Wright.

Wright responded with a tweet calling Keown out for his ‘dig’.

The former Arsenal striker called Keown ‘harsh’ and did not see understand how he could be so critical.

Ozil only played the last half an hour, coming on as a second half substitute for Danny Welbeck.

That did not however, stop Keown from slamming the 2014 World Cup winner and insisting that he leaves the club in January.

“The top players are ruthless and they don’t play for fun,” Keown said on BT Sport.

“I don’t know if he’s got that ruthlessness in his makeup.

“That ball has got to be in the back of the net. That should be game over, Arsenal have won the game.

“People might think I’m gunning for him, but you’ve got to be clinical in those situations.

“Is he really bothered there? Look at that, he’s just missed a chance to win a game for Arsenal.

“There’s only one outcome here. When it comes to January surely Mesut Ozil will be gone.”

Ozil has yet to score or provide an assist in all competitions this seasons but had missed the Gunners last few games with a knee injury.

Arsenal are currently eight in the Premier League on 13 points and take on Crvena Zvezda next on Thursday in the Europa League.
