Turkish billionaire Murat Ulker is preparing a £220 million bid to takeover Newcastle United according to the Evening Standard.

Ulker is the richest man in Turkey worth a reported £2.8billion according to Forbes.

The business tycoon owns several brands popular to a British consumers including McVitie’s, Jaffa Cakes and Penguin bars.

Ulker has got involved in sports before playing an active role in establishing of the Ulkerspor Basketball Club, which has subsequently united with Fenerbahce.

This would however, be the first time a Turkish businessman has taken over a Premier League side.
