Liverpool suffer major blow as contract talks with in-demand star break down
Germany internationals midfielder Emre Can has taken another step towards a Liverpool exit.
The 23-year-old has under eight months remaining on his contract with the Reds and could end up leaving the club for free next summer.
According to a report in the Mail, Liverpool have been locked in negotiations with Can’s representatives as they look to tie the midfielder down to a long-term contract.
Per the source, talks have however reached a stalemate and Can is expected to run down his contract.

To make matters worse, Can turns 24 in January which means he passes the age at which the Reds could demand a fee for him if he were to leave for free.
The Mail goes onto state that Liverpool decision to deny Can a release clauses has proved to be the major stumbling block.
Emre Can played the full 90 minutes during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Southampton in their next league fixture.
