It is no secret that Liverpool midfielder Emre Can faces an uncertain future at Anfield.

Can has under 12 months remaining on his contract but has yet to reach an agreement over a new deal.

The midfielder of Turkish origin has been closely linked with Juventus since the summer but the Daily Star reported today that his next destination could be rivals Manchester City.

The Daily Star claim sources in Italy feel Juve could miss out on the 23-year-old to City.

Per the source, Juventus feel City would be a more attractive destination for the central midfielder.

Can is being tipped as a potential replacement for Yaya Toure, 34, who could be on his way to the Citizens sister club in the MLS, New York City FC.

Interested clubs will be able to enter direct talks with Can in January unless Liverpool agree a contract extension.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has not given up hope of Can signing a new deal. Speaking last month he was quoted as saying.

He said: “It’s allowed that he could sign a contract with us in May. I have no problem with that.

“We have to respect when a contract ends. If a contract ends there are two sides who could have done things differently.”

The Germany international joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for £10 million three years ago.
