“Arsenal are not going to win the league!” – Gunners Legend reveals prediction for Tottenham clash
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has revealed his prediction for today’s north London derby.
The Gunners host their biter rivals Tottenham at the Emirates stadium, kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (GMT).
Merson admitted that he is worried about today’s clash and the best he can hope for is a draw.
“I am going to go for the draw, but that’s only in the hope! If both teams turn up, you just see Tottenham winning. I think home advantage in a tight game, I like to go 1-1,” Merson told SkySports.
“For Arsenal fans, if they come away with a 1-1 draw and can stop Tottenham winning the league, I think that is how it has now got at the moment as Arsenal are not going to win the league!
“As long as the Tottenham players have had a good rest, they did not go away on international duty, which is a big advantage, so I think Arsenal will settle for a draw.”
Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of league leaders Manchester City in their previous fixture.
Arsene Wenger’s side have made an inconsistent start to the season and will find themselves seven points behind Tottenham if they lose today.
Germany international Mesut Ozil has been included in Arsenal’s squad. The 29-year-old played twice for Germany over the past week.
Tottenham meanwhile come into the north London derby in high spirits following wins over Real Madrid and Crystal Palace.
