Liverpool boss looking forward to playing in ‘iconic stadium’ [divider]
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers underlined that he is looking forward to playing at the Atatürk Olympic stadium ahead of the Europa League Round of 32 second-leg game against Beşiktaş.
The Reds won the 2005 Champions League at the Atatürk Olympic coming from behind to beat AC Milan.
“It was an historic night for the club and everyone associated with Liverpool respects that,” the manager said of what occurred at the Ataturk a decade ago,” Rodgers was quoted as saying on the official Liverpool website.

Rodgers underlined that most of the current Liverpool side were not involved in the famous final but that they will want to recreate history on Thursday.
“Of course, it was a little while ago and there won’t be too many of our players that were involved at that time. But certainly it is a really iconic stadium for the club and a big part of that history,” he added.
The 2005 Champions League was the last piece of European silverware won by the Reds.
Liverpool also won the 2000-01 Europa League under the competitions former name the UEFA Cup.
Beşiktaş have never won any European silverware but the Black Eagles did beat Liverpool the last time they faced the Reds in Turkey.
