Everton’s Wayne Rooney believes Arsene Wenger made wrong decision regarding Arsenal contract rebels
Everton striker Wayne Rooney believes Arsene Wenger should have offloaded both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez over the transfer window.
Both Ozil and Sanchez have entered the final six months of their contracts with the Gunners and could end up leaving the north London-based club for free at the end of the season.
Sanchez came close to a deadline day to Man City over the summer while Ozil has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Rooney believes Arsenal’s star duo will end up leaving the Gunners. The former England international also questioned Ozil and Sanchez’s motivation for ‘when the going gets tough’.

“With the two of them not signing contracts in the summer, I think that told you everything,” Rooney told talkSPORT.
“The way it is, I don’t think they will be at Arsenal [next season].
“I feel they should have taken the money and looked elsewhere because, although they are top players and it is difficult to let those players leave the football club, when the going gets tough – as it is at the minute for Arsenal – you want players who want to be there and you can put your trust in.
“If they are not going to be there at the end of the season, maybe there are a few question marks.”
Ozil has been in impressive form for Arsenal in recent weeks. The 29-year-old scored a contender for goal of the season during the Gunners 1-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend.
