Man City star reveals he was surprised by Tottenham Hotspur’s players during the 4-1 victory
Ilkay Gundogan was a surprise inclusion in Pepe Guardiola’s Manchester City side over the weekend.
The Citizens recorded a 4-1 win over title rivals Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to maintain their 11 point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Gundogan played a key role during City’s victory, scoring the opening goal midway through the first half.
The Germany international revealed that he was surprised how open he was in Tottenham’s box.

“I was surprised I was so free, but perhaps the Spurs players didn’t know I was so strong with my head,” Gundogan told BT Sport after the game.
Gundogan recently recovered from a serious knee injury which kept him on the sidelines for over 11 months.
Manchester City are unbeaten in the Premier League this season and have already racked up 17 victories. The Citizens take on Leicester City in the League Cup tonight.
Pep Guardiola’s side host Bournemouth in the league at the Etihad this weekend.
