Everton have suffered a blow in their bid to sign Dynamo Kiev defender Domagoj Vida in January.

Conflicting reports in Turkey however, claim that Vida has actually struck a deal with Besiktas.

Fotomac went as far as to publish the actual date the centre-back will be joining the reigning Super Lig champions.

Vida is set to join Besiktas on 3 January 2018 according to Besiktas goalkeeper coach Marjan Mrmic.

“Vida has agreed terms with us and already signed a deal,” Mrmic said.

“He will join us on our winter break camp on 3 January in Antalya.

“He is already our player and will be joining us for the second half of the season.”

Vida will be eligible for Champions League football as he is not cup tied.

Besiktas became the first Turkish side to book a place in the Champions League Last 16 as group leaders.

The Black Eagles topped Group G without suffering a single defeat.

The reigning Super Lig champions will take on Bayern Munich next in the Last 16.

Besiktas have won the league title for the past two seasons.
