“Bristol beat Manchester United” – Man City playmaker sends out warning to teammates ahead of FA Cup clash
Manchester City playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has urged his teammates to be cautious ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final clash.
The Citizens host Bristol City at the Etihad Stadium, kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).
Pep Guardiola’s side come into the game off the back of a comfortable 4-1 victory over Burnley in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Bristol City meanwhile sit fourth in the Championship but suffered a 3-0 loss over the weekend.
However, Gundogan believes Man City cannot take tonight’s game lightly after Bristol City eliminated Man United in the previous round.
“Just the fact Bristol beat Manchester United shows we need to take this game very seriously,” Gundogan was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
“They showed they are able to break teams, so we are aware of it. But despite all these facts, our aim is to beat them.”
The Citizens sit in pole position in the Premier League and need a win tonight to maintain their chances of lifting the Quadruple.
Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten so far this season. Man City take on rivals Liverpool in this weekend’s much-anticipated league clash.
