Juventus chief Beppe Moratta has confirmed they are are in talks with Liverpool star Emre Can.

Moratta revealed the reigning Serie A champions want to sign the midfielder of Turkish origin.

Marotta said: “We respect Liverpool, but also respect the rules and regulations.”

“Emre Can is a player whose contract is running down, so it does allow us to approach him for negotiations and that is the course we have taken,” director general Marotta told Sky Sport Italia this evening.

“I can’t say if he could sign a new contract with Liverpool, but I can say we will try all we can to get the player. Obviously, we have to respect what the player wants.

“He is currently at Liverpool, we are respecting Liverpool, but also respecting the rules and regulations.”

Can recently denied reaching an agreement with Juventus – as was widely reported in the Italian press.

The midfielder confirmed that he is in talks with Liverpool over a new contract deal.

The 24-year-old remains a first-choice player for the Reds despite his current situation.

The Germany international played a staring role in Liverpool becoming the first team to beat Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.

Can has four goals and three assists in 27 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.
