Cenk Tosun was linked with several clubs prior to joining Everton from Besiktas in January.
Football agent Ceylan Caliskan who brokered the Tosun deal revealed what actually happened over the summer.
Caliskan confirmed that Newcastle United and Crystal Palace – who were both interested in Tosun – made an offer for the striker.
The agent revealed that he was not impressed by the Magpies bid but that Palace made a serious move for the 26-year-old.

“This is what happened,” Caliskan said speaking on A Spor.
“I don’t tend to talk to the media much, I brought over scouts from 10 clubs to watch Tosun.
“Six from the Premier League, two from Italy and two from Spain.
“I will only name the clubs that made an offer. Newcastle United made the first bid but all I’d say it was unserious.
“Crystal Palace were next to make a move, they offered €14 million three days before the end of the summer transfer window.”
Tosun ended up joining Everton over the winter transfer window instead after an impressive run in the Champions League.
The 26-year-old played a key role in the Black Eagles winning back to back league titles over the past two seasons.
The Turkey international was directly involved in six of Besiktas’ 11 goals in the Champions League.
The Eagles became the first Turkish side to book a place in the Last 16 stage as group leaders.
It was Tosun’s Champions League form that really won over Everton.
“The Monaco game in Istanbul really put him on the map, he was being regularly scouted before that but after consistently playing well in the Champions League and scoring in the competition interest really hotted up,” he added.
“It was around that time that talks with Everton got serious.”
